What Everyone Is Saying About Dynamics 365

Dynamics 365 combines CRM and ERP products into one cloud solution. Here's what everyone is saying about this move by Microsoft.

On July 6, Microsoft announced a shift with Microsoft Dynamics. It will now be Microsoft Dynamics 365, which merges CRM and ERP cloud solutions into a single cloud service. In their announcement, Microsoft recognized that while most of us find our personal apps easy to use, business apps are often cumbersome and clumsy. Their goal with this shift is to change that.

Microsoft wants to enable business apps to be simpler and easier to deploy. They are also designed to deploy independently, so businesses can use only the apps they need. The move to Dynamics 365 takes place this fall, and the announcement generated big buzz among tech commenters.

Here's a brief roundup of what business and tech leaders said about this move by Microsoft:

  • Forbes described this as the Satya Nadella treatment and said, "The move is the latest in a series of announcements made to revitalize Microsoft’s enterprise and cloud offerings since Nadella took over as chief executive in February 2014." They say "Dynamics 365′s most important capability is to combine CRM data with enterprise resource planning (ERP) data within a company’s infrastructure."
  • PCWorld describes how Dynamics 365 is now entwined with Office 365, tightly tying CRM and ERP data with the workplace productivity suite. The writer also notes the native embedding of Power BI and Cortana intelligence tools to help with predictive capabilities. The ability of users to independently deploy apps is also a key point, allowing users to buy only what they need. Licensing will be based on apps used as well as on the user's professional role.
  • ZDnet reports that Microsoft plans to offer two Dynamics 365 packages. The "Business" option is for SMBs, and the "Enterprise" is for larger businesses. Contact us here at Magenium to learn more about packages and pricing.
