THE CHALLENGE

As a result of rapid growth and numerous mergers and acquisitions, the manufacturer was struggling with an aging infrastructure. They needed to consolidate systems, migrate their operating system and move their email system to the cloud. With a global workforce, they needed a solution that could be implemented quickly with a migration that met their budget and caused minimal business disruption. They sought a cloud-based productivity solution to manage their growth, unify their communications and improve work processes.

THE SOLUTION

The high level requirements were reviewed by Magenium Solutions and it was decided that Office 365 would provide a more streamlined service delivery and a stable, high-performance messaging and collaboration environment. And with Windows XP facing end-of-life, an upgrade to Windows 7 would provide a mature and stable platform. 

Microsoft Office 365, a subscription-based offering of Microsoft cloud services, includes Microsoft Exchange Online for enterprise-grade email, SharePoint Online for collaboration and Lync Online for unified communications and Office 365 for familiar Office productivity tools. Magenium recommended the E1 option for all employees due to its low-cost volume licensing, which negated the need for any capital expenditure on new hardware. 

With the migration from IBM Lotus Notes to Microsoft Office 365, the company can now manage user accounts with a single Active Directory database. Employees have anytime access to their email on any device and also experience a whole new range of communication and collaboration tools. With Lync Online, employees can use instant messaging, presence and web conferencing as part of their daily routine. 

By migrating its infrastructure to the cloud, they have experienced added functionality while avoiding a significant IT investment and ongoing operating costs. They have reduced the burden on their IT staff and provided employees with greater productivity tools that enable enhanced communication and collaboration. The solution is scalable, supported and secure and has met the company's needs and exceeded their expectations.
